Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with the ~160 kDa nNOS protein and does not exhibit cross-reactivity with eNOS or iNOS proteins. Reactivity was confirmed with a ~160 kDa band on western blots of rat and mouse brain tissue lysates (20 µg). In immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded tissues, some background staining was observed.
Target Information
NOS activity requires homodimerization and three cosubstrates (L-arginine, NADPH, and O₂), along with five cofactors (FAD, FMN, calmodulin, tetrahydrobiopterin, and heme). Distinct NOS isoforms are products of three separate genes: NOS1 (ncNOS, neuronal), NOS2 (iNOS, inducible), and NOS3 (ecNOS, endothelial).
