Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes cyclin D1, an ubiquitously expressed 33 kDa intracellular protein that migrates as a 36 kDa band under reducing SDS-PAGE conditions.

Target Information

Cyclin D1 (PRAD-1, bcl-1) is a key regulator of the cell cycle. It functions with CDK4 and/or CDK6 to phosphorylate the Rb protein, promoting G1/S phase transition. Cyclin D1 acts as a proto-oncogene and is overexpressed in various human cancers, including mantle cell lymphoma. It also regulates protein phosphorylation, epithelial cell proliferation, and adipocyte differentiation.
The CCND1 gene encoding Cyclin D1 is located on chromosome 11. Cyclin D1 forms complexes with CDK4 or CDK6 in response to growth factor stimulation, inactivating Rb and modulating CDK inhibitors (p21Cip1, p27Kip1). Without stimulation, Cyclin D1 undergoes ubiquitin-mediated degradation, contributing to G1/S phase arrest.
Cyclin D1 belongs to the conserved cyclin family, which regulates CDK kinases and coordinates mitotic events. Mutations or overexpression of Cyclin D1 are frequently observed in tumors, making it an important biomarker and research target in cell cycle and cancer studies.
