FOXP1 유전자는 forkhead box (FOX) 전사인자 패밀리의 P 서브패밀리에 속합니다. FOX 전사인자는 발달 및 성체 단계에서 조직 및 세포 유형 특이적 유전자 전사 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다. FOXP1 단백질은 DNA 결합 도메인과 단백질-단백질 결합 도메인을 모두 포함하며, 여러 종양 유형에서 소실되어 종양 억제 인자로 작용할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 3p14.1 영역에 위치하며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 다양한 아이소폼을 생성합니다.
