Target Information

The nuclear pore complex (NPC) is a protein assembly localized at the nuclear rim and mediates macromolecular transport between the nucleus and the cytoplasm.
Mammalian nucleoporin NUP160 is part of the hetero-oligomeric complex containing NUP107, NUP133, NUP96, and the mammalian homolog of yeast sec13p.
A small fraction of the NUP107–160 complex localizes to kinetochores and pro-metaphase spindle poles in mitotic cells, associated with proteins such as Mad1, Mad2, Bub3, and Cdc20.
Immunodepletion of the NUP107–160 complex results in defective spindle assembly, indicating multiple functions.
NUP160 has been identified as an HIV dependency factor (HDF), suggesting potential as a drug target in HIV treatment.
Multiple isoforms of NUP160 are known to exist.
