REST/NRSF는 뉴런 제한적 억제 요소(NRSE)에 결합하여 비신경 세포에서 신경 유전자 전사를 억제하는 전사 억제 단백질입니다. mSin3 및 CoREST와 결합하여 히스톤 탈아세틸화 효소 복합체를 유도하며, BHC 복합체를 통해 히스톤의 특정 부위를 탈아세틸화 및 탈메틸화하여 염색질 구조를 조절합니다.
