This antibody is specific for Borrelia burgdorferi DbpB protein.
BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with DbpB from B. burgdorferi and B. garinii sources based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence.
Cross-reactivity with DbpB from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

Decorin-binding protein B (DbpB) binds to decorin, mediating adherence of Borrelia burgdorferi to collagen fibers in skin and other tissues.
Spirochetal surface adhesins facilitate attachment to decorin, enabling bacterial colonization in mammalian tissues.
During tick feeding, B. burgdorferi migrates from the midgut to salivary glands, transmitting to the mammalian host.
Expression of DbpA and DbpB may be regulated by tick life cycle changes, feeding conditions (temperature, pH, nutrients), and infection progression.
DbpA/B expression enables nonadherent B. burgdorferi strains to efficiently bind epithelial cells.
