Calpastatin은 내인성 칼페인(calcium-dependent cysteine protease) 억제제로, N-말단 도메인 L과 네 개의 반복적인 칼페인 억제 도메인(1–4)을 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 아밀로이드 전구체 단백질의 단백질분해에 관여하며, 신경 소포의 외포작용, 혈소판 및 적혈구 응집 등 다양한 막 융합 과정에 관여합니다. 또한 구조적 또는 조절 단백질을 인코딩하는 유전자의 발현 수준에 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
