Target Information
The IRF (interferon regulatory factor) family of transcription factors are characterized by a unique tryptophan pentad repeat DNA-binding domain. IRFs regulate interferon responses to viral infection and control interferon-inducible gene expression. IRF4 is lymphocyte-specific and negatively regulates toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling, critical for innate and adaptive immune activation. A chromosomal translocation involving IRF4 and the IgH locus, t(6;14)(p25;q32), may contribute to multiple myeloma. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
