Target Information
VLR-1 (also known as TRPV2) is a calcium-permeable, non-selective cation channel with outward rectification. It is regulated by growth factors such as IGF1, PDGF, and neuropeptides. Unlike TRPV1, VRL-1 does not respond to capsaicin, acid, or moderate heat but is activated by high temperatures (~52°C). It is expressed in medium- to large-diameter sensory neurons and may function in high-threshold heat response. Expression is not limited to sensory tissues, suggesting broader physiological roles. VRL-1 is a member of the TRPV channel family.
