Target Information
The CALML5 gene encodes a calcium-binding protein expressed in the epidermis and related to the calmodulin family. Functional studies with recombinant protein demonstrate calcium binding and a conformational change upon binding. Expression is abundant in reconstructed epidermis and restricted to differentiating keratinocytes. It can associate with transglutaminase 3, a key enzyme in keratinocyte terminal differentiation.
