MP701B targets IFN gamma in ELISA and WB applications and shows reactivity with Porcine samples.
The immunogen is recombinant porcine IFN gamma.
MP701B detects IFN gamma with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 17 kDa.
The MP700 mouse IFNγ antibody (biotinylated conjugate of clone P2C11) has been successfully paired as the detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA with capture antibody MP700 (clone PTF6).
Typical dilutions for sandwich ELISA include:
- Coating: 1 µg/mL
- Detection: 0.125–0.25 µg/mL
Target Information
IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced mainly by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens and cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits.
On SDS-PAGE, IFN gamma appears as 25, 20, and minor 15.5 kDa bands due to differential glycosylation.
Its biological activity is highly species-specific; human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse.
Functions include:
- Antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity
- Induction of MHC class I and II expression
- Macrophage activation
- Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B lymphocytes
IFN gamma acts through IFN gamma receptor I and II, activating the JAK-STAT pathway.
It shows ~40% sequence homology between human and mouse forms.
Expression is upregulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF, and downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN.
Mutations in the IFN gamma gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
