Product Specific Information
Reconstitute in 500 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. After reconstitution, keep aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, and at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) is a member of the neurotrophin family. It is synthesized as pre-proBDNF, processed to proBDNF, and further cleaved to the mature 14 kDa protein. Both proBDNF and mature BDNF are biologically active and secreted in synaptic vesicles.
BDNF is widely expressed in the central nervous system and acts through TrkB and p75-NTR receptors to promote neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic regulation.
Reduced BDNF expression has been observed in Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease, and it may play a role in stress response and mood disorder biology.
