Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the 95 kDa PSD-95 protein. Cross-reactivity with an unknown protein at ~50 kDa has been observed in western blots with rat brain homogenates, but not in mouse brain homogenates.
Positive reactivity was confirmed on western blots of rat brain homogenates and lysates of PSD-95-transfected HEK293 cells.
Target Information
Post Synaptic Density 95 kDa (PSD-95), also known as synapse associated protein 90 kDa (SAP90), is a membrane-associated protein found in postsynaptic density of forebrain neurons and some presynaptic structures in the cerebellum.
PSD-95 contains three PDZ domains, an SH3 domain, and a Guanylate Kinase (GuK) domain. It plays a role in clustering NMDA receptors and Shaker-type potassium channels at synaptic membranes in CNS neurons.
PSD-95 interacts with proteins containing a C-terminal T/SXV motif and with neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) through PDZ-PDZ interactions.
