Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates various cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified:
- A receptor-type PTP with a short extracellular domain, a single transmembrane region, and two tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains.
- A nonreceptor-type isoform with a distinct hydrophilic N-terminus.
Studies in mice suggest regulatory roles of this PTP in RAS-related signal transduction, cytokine-induced SATA signaling, and activation of voltage-gated K⁺ channels.
