Target Information
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) Q is implicated in mRNA processing mechanisms. It is a component of the CRD-mediated complex that promotes MYC mRNA stability. Isoforms 1, 2, and 3 are associated with pre-mRNA, splicing intermediates, and mature mRNA complexes.
Isoform 1 binds to apoB mRNA AU-rich sequences and is part of the APOB mRNA editosome complex, potentially modulating posttranscriptional RNA-editing through interactions with A1CF, APOBEC1, or RNA itself.
The protein may participate in translationally coupled mRNA turnover and cytoplasmic mRNA decay mechanisms involving FOS mRNA. Isoform 3 may be involved in vesicle-based mRNA transport via synaptotagmin interactions.
It is also a component of the GAIT (gamma interferon-activated inhibitor of translation) complex, mediating transcript-selective translation inhibition during inflammation by binding GAIT elements in 3'-UTRs of inflammatory mRNAs.
