CAMK2G (CaMKII gamma)는 CAMKII 계열의 serine/threonine protein kinase로, 호르몬 및 신경전달물질의 다양한 효과에 관여합니다. 여섯 가지 alternative splicing 변형체가 존재하며, 일부는 인간 종양에서 발견되었습니다.
이 효소는 Ca(2+)/calmodulin 결합 및 autophosphorylation 후 자율적으로 작동하며, dendritic spine 및 시냅스 형성, 신경 가소성, 골격근 내 sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+) 수송 조절에 관여합니다.
또한 actin filament 결합 및 번들링을 통해 kinase-independent 방식으로 신경세포 내 구조적 역할을 수행하며, CaMK2A의 적절한 타깃팅을 지원하여 장기강화(LTP) 및 학습 관련 시냅스 가소성을 유지합니다.
