모든 TMC 유전자는 세포막을 여러 번 통과하는 막단백질을 암호화하며, 아미노 및 카복실 말단이 세포 내에 위치합니다.
TMC7은 이온 채널 또는 수송체로서의 기능을 가질 가능성이 있습니다.
TMC7 유전자는 인간 염색체 16에 위치하며, 이 염색체는 약 900개 이상의 유전자를 포함하고 전체 유전체의 약 3%를 차지합니다.
염색체 16에는 Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN) 유전자와 Rubinstein-Taybi 증후군, Crohn’s disease 등의 질환 관련 유전자도 존재합니다.
