Description:
The eBio1316H antibody reacts with mouse IL-13 and functions as a neutralizing antibody. Mouse interleukin-13 (IL-13), originally designated p600, is an 11.6 kDa cytokine secreted by activated T helper cells, CD8+ T cells, and NK cells. It shares many biological activities with IL-4, requiring the IL-4Rα chain for signal transduction. IL-13 suppresses macrophage cytotoxic activity, upregulates IL-1RA expression, and inhibits inflammatory cytokine production. It induces CD23 expression on B cells and enhances class II MHC gene expression. Mouse IL-13 is active on both mouse and human cells.

Useful for neutralization, ELISA detection, and ELISPOT detection.

Applications Tested:
The biotinylated eBio1316H antibody has been validated as a detection antibody in sandwich ELISA and ELISPOT assays for mouse IL-13, used in combination with purified eBio13A (14-7133) as capture antibody and recombinant mouse IL-13 (14-8131) as standard.
Recommended ELISA detection concentration: 0.25–1 µg/mL.
A standard curve using recombinant IL-13 ranging from 1000 pg/mL to 8 pg/mL should be included in each ELISA plate.

For intracellular staining of mouse IL-13, fluorochrome-labeled eBio13A antibody is recommended.

Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity, inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, and is implicated in allergen-induced asthma. IL-13 also controls B cell maturation, differentiation, and promotes IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 is similar to IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF, and its gene is located on chromosome 5q within a cytokine gene cluster close to IL4.
