Target Information
EpoR encodes the erythropoietin receptor, a member of the cytokine receptor family. Binding of erythropoietin activates Jak2 tyrosine kinase and triggers intracellular pathways including Ras/MAP kinase, PI3 kinase, and STAT transcription factors. This receptor supports erythroid cell survival. Defects in EPOR may cause erythroleukemia and familial erythrocytosis. Dysregulation can influence tumor growth. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
