Target Information
Gene: LHCGR
LHCGR encodes the receptor for both luteinizing hormone and choriogonadotropin. It belongs to the family 1 of G-protein coupled receptors (FSH/LSH/TSH superfamily).
Its primary function is acting as a luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (gonadotropin receptor), regulating the development and function of Leydig cells in males.
It also contributes to male secondary sexual characteristic development.
Mutations in this receptor can result in disorders such as familial male precocious puberty and male pseudohermaphroditism.
