Target Information

CARF (Calcium-Response Factor), also known as ALS2CR8 or NYD-SP24, is a 725 amino acid nuclear protein expressed in various tissues, with the highest levels in the hippocampus. CARF is believed to function as a transcription factor associated with the p53 tumor suppression pathway. It cooperates and co-localizes with ARF (ADP-ribosylation factor) to mediate ARF–p53-induced apoptotic signaling, which is involved in cell cycle control, cellular development, DNA damage response, and aging processes.
