Target Information
Gastrokine 1 (GKN1, also known as CA11) is a 185 amino acid secreted protein belonging to the gastrokine family with a BRICHOS domain and an asparagine-rich region. It is reported to be down-regulated in human gastric cancer tissue compared to normal gastric mucosa. GKN1 is predominantly expressed in the stomach and co-secreted with mucins. It functions as a signaling growth factor with mitogenic activity and may play a role in maintaining the integrity of the gastric mucosal epithelium.
