KLHL22 (Kelch-like protein 22)은 634 아미노산 길이의 단백질로, Drosophila의 Kelch 단백질과 유사하며 난소 링관의 액틴 구조 유지에 관여합니다. Kelch 기능에 영향을 주는 돌연변이는 링관 결합 실패 및 암컷 불임을 초래합니다.
Human KLHL22 단백질은 6개의 Kelch 반복과 1개의 BTB(POZ) 도메인을 포함합니다. BTB(Broad-Complex, Tramtrack, Bric a brac) 도메인은 N-말단 호모다이머화 도메인으로, Kelch 반복 및/또는 C2H2형 zinc finger를 포함할 수 있습니다. BTB 도메인을 포함하는 단백질은 염색질 구조 및 기능 조절을 통한 전사 조절에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
KLHL22는 대체 스플라이싱에 의해 생성되는 두 가지 isoform을 가집니다.
