Product Specific Information

PA1-964 detects proteasome 19S subunit S2 from human cells.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunoprecipitation procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a 100 kDa protein representing proteasome 19S subunit S2 in HeLa cell lysate.
It also detects, to a lesser extent, an approximately 50 kDa protein that may represent a degradation product.
The PA1-964 antigen is recombinant human proteasome 19S subunit S2.

Target Information

The 26S proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex consisting of a 20S core and a 19S regulator.

  • The 20S core comprises four rings of 28 non-identical subunits (two rings of seven alpha subunits and two rings of seven beta subunits).
  • The 19S regulator includes a base (six ATPase subunits and two non-ATPase subunits) and a lid (up to ten non-ATPase subunits).
Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal manner.
The immunoproteasome, a modified form, is essential for processing class I MHC peptides.
This gene encodes one of the non-ATPase subunits of the 19S regulator lid and may also participate in the TNF signaling pathway via interaction with the tumor necrosis factor type 1 receptor.
A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 1.
