Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene contains a RING finger motif and is similar to polycomb group (PcG) gene products. PcG proteins form complexes via protein–protein interactions and maintain transcriptional repression of genes involved in embryogenesis, cell cycle regulation, and tumorigenesis.
This protein acts as a negative regulator of transcription and exhibits tumor suppressor activity. Expression is detected in various tumor cells but limited in neural tissues under normal conditions.
Knockout studies in mice suggest that this protein negatively regulates cytokines, chemokines, and their receptors, playing an important role in lymphocyte differentiation, migration, and immune responses.
