Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the large family of early response genes. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter and is part of the TSC-22/Dip/Bun family. TSC22 is an intracellular protein localized in the cytoplasm or nucleus and plays a role in regulating cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. It modulates the transcriptional activity of Smad3 and Smad4 and is ubiquitously expressed in both fetal and adult tissues, including aortic endothelial cells. Expression is induced by cytokines such as TGFB. TSC22 proteins may serve as potential therapeutic targets for leukemia and prostate cancer.
