Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP contains an extracellular region with MAM domain, Ig-like and fibronectin type III-like repeats, a single transmembrane region, and two intracellular catalytic domains.
It plays roles in cell-cell recognition and adhesion, and may be involved in early neural development. Expression is regulated by PMA or calcium ionophore in Jurkat T lymphoma cells.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.
