OGFOD1는 2-OG-Fe(II) dioxygenase 계열의 단백질로, 허혈 생존 및 스트레스 반응에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Prolyl 4-hydroxylase α 서브유닛을 포함하는 산화환원효소이며, ATPAF1 유전자 발현에 필요한 철 결합 잔기를 가지고 있습니다. 또한 새로운 스트레스 과립 구성 요소로서 번역 조절 및 HRI 매개 eIF2α 인산화 과정에서 중요한 세포사멸 촉진 역할을 합니다.
