Target Information
Claudin proteins are a family of tight junction-associated proteins. Tight junctions are specialized regions of cell-to-cell contact that form a molecular gasket preventing leakage of ions and water between cells. They are abundant in luminal epithelial sheets and maintain epithelial cell polarity. Different tissues exhibit distinct Claudin compositions.
