Target Information
DNA replication, recombination, and repair — all essential for genomic stability — require exonucleases. During DNA replication, exonucleases process Okazaki fragments; in DNA repair, they excise damaged DNA and correct recombinational mismatches. These functions involve DNA polymerase families (alpha, beta, delta, epsilon). DNA polymerase delta and epsilon are multisubunit enzymes; DNA polymerase delta consists of two subunits interacting with the sliding clamp protein PCNA. DNA polymerase delta 3 (POLD3 or p66) is a 466 amino acid nuclear protein required for proper DNA polymerase delta function.
