Vesicular GABA Amino Acid Transporter (VGAT)는 억제성 신경전달물질을 시냅스 소포로 운반하는 역할을 합니다 (McIntire et al., 1997).
VGAT 단백질(VIAAT로도 알려짐)은 중추신경계 전반의 glycine 및 GABA성 시냅스 소포에 발현됩니다 (Chaudhry et al., 1998).
VGAT의 발현은 발달 단계 및 신경 활동 패턴에 따라 변할 수 있습니다 (De et al., 2005).
