Target Information
The CDH17 gene belongs to the cadherin superfamily, encoding calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins. The protein consists of an extracellular region with seven cadherin domains and a transmembrane region but lacks the conserved cytoplasmic domain. It is expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts and functions as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter, involved in the absorption of peptide-based drugs. CDH17 may also contribute to the morphological organization of the liver and intestine. Multiple transcript variants result from alternative splicing.
