Target Information
MLH1 is a DNA mismatch repair protein essential for maintaining genetic integrity. Defects in mismatch repair pathways can lead to microsatellite instability (MSI), which is associated with carcinogenesis. Mutations in mismatch repair genes, including MLH1, are linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPC). MSH2 recognizes mismatch nucleotides and forms a complex with MLH1 and PMSH to facilitate repair.
