Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa and have an isoelectric pH between 4.9 and 7.8.
Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are used for distinguishing different epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies assist in differential diagnosis of tumors using immunohistochemistry and are also useful in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
