LAPTM4B is a multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the LAPTM4/LAPTM5 transporter family. It plays an active role in malignant cell disease progression, cell proliferation, and multidrug resistance. Genetic polymorphisms of LAPTM4B are potential risk factors for colon and gastric cancers. LAPTM4B may serve as a prognostic indicator for ovarian carcinoma and may play a role in human hepatocellular carcinoma.
