Target Information
Septin 2 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase required for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton. It contributes to the formation of polarized epithelial cells by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules and regulating vesicle transport. Septin 2 is essential for mitotic progression, forming a scaffold at the mitotic spindle midplane for proper chromosome congression and segregation. It also plays roles in ciliogenesis and collective cell movement.
