Background
Zinc finger protein, FOG family member 2 (ZFPM2) is a widely expressed transcription factor that modulates the activity of GATA family proteins, key regulators of hematopoiesis and cardiogenesis in mammals. It can both activate and down-regulate GATA-target gene expression, suggesting context-dependent modulation. An alternatively spliced transcript variant has been described but is not fully validated.
