Target Information
HMGB2 encodes a member of the non-histone chromosomal high mobility group protein family. These chromatin-associated proteins are widely distributed in the nucleus of higher eukaryotic cells. In vitro studies show that HMGB2 can bend DNA and form DNA circles, suggesting a role in promoting DNA flexibility and facilitating cooperative interactions between cis-acting proteins. It is also implicated in DNA end-joining during double-strand break repair and V(D)J recombination.
