Target Information

FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular protooncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene located on chromosome 14.
c-Fos heterodimerizes with c-Jun to form the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates transcription of several genes involved in cellular signal transduction, proliferation, and differentiation.
c-Fos phosphorylation occurs at multiple sites in response to stimuli such as growth factors and insulin. The ERK MAPK kinase phosphorylates c-Fos at Threonine 232, influencing its nuclear localization and transcriptional activity.
