MICAL에는 MICAL1, MICAL2, MICAL3 세 가지 isoform과 MICAL-L1, MICAL-L2 같은 유사 단백질이 존재합니다.
MICAL2는 N-말단 FAD 결합 도메인, CH(칼포닌 결합) 도메인, LIM(Lin11, Isl-1, Mec-3) 도메인을 포함합니다.
MICAL2는 actin stress fiber 조절 및 정상적인 actin 구조 유지에 필수적이며, MICAL2-PV라는 스플라이싱 변이가 전립선암 진행에 관여하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
