Target Information
This gene encodes the transcriptionally active subunit of the SIII (elongin) transcription elongation factor complex, which includes elongins B and C. This complex enhances RNA polymerase II elongation by suppressing transient pausing during transcription. While elongin A is ubiquitously expressed, this protein is specifically expressed in the testis, suggesting a role in spermatogenesis.
