Target Information
This gene encodes the transcriptionally active subunit of the SIII (elongin) transcription elongation factor complex, which includes regulatory subunits elongins B and C. The complex enhances RNA polymerase II elongation by reducing pausing along DNA. While elongin A is ubiquitously expressed, this protein is testis-specific, suggesting a role in spermatogenesis.
