Target Information
STK25 (YSK1) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the GCK family. It functions as an upstream regulator of MAP kinase signaling pathways. Protein kinases transfer phosphate groups from ATP to substrate proteins, mediating signal transduction processes that regulate cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
The STE group of kinases, homologous to yeast Sterile 7, 11, and 20 kinases, includes approximately 50 kinases related to MAPK cascade families. MAP kinase cascades, consisting of MAPK and upstream kinases (MAPKKs), are well characterized in yeast pheromone response pathways.
