Product Specific Information
The MA1-7374 antibody reacts with Hepatitis B virus E antigen in viral and infected tissue samples.
MA1-7374 has been successfully used in ELISA applications.
The MA1-7374 antibody was raised against the HBV E antigen.
Target Information
Hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg) is a viral protein associated with HBV infections. Unlike the surface antigen, the e-antigen is found in the blood only when viruses are also present. When the virus becomes latent, the e-antigen disappears from the blood.
HBeAg serves as a marker for infectivity and is used to monitor HBV treatment efficacy. Successful treatment eliminates HBeAg and leads to the development of anti-HBe antibodies.
Certain HBV strains, common in the Middle East and Asia, do not produce e-antigen, making HBeAg testing less useful in those regions.
