SEM1 (SEM1 26S Proteasome Subunit) is a protein-coding gene located within the split hand/split foot malformation locus (SHFM1) on chromosome 7. It has been proposed as a candidate gene for the autosomal dominant form of split hand/split foot malformation type 1. SEM1 directly interacts with BRCA2 and may play a role in cell cycle completion.
