Target Information
Inward rectifier potassium channels allow potassium ions to flow more readily into the cell than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by extracellular potassium concentration; as external potassium increases, the voltage range for channel opening shifts to more positive values. Inward rectification mainly results from blockage of outward current by internal magnesium.
