Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the ephrin family. The ephrins and EPH-related receptors comprise the largest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases and are implicated in developmental processes, particularly in the nervous system and erythropoiesis. Based on structure and sequence, ephrins are divided into:
- Ephrin-A class: GPI-anchored membrane proteins
- Ephrin-B class: Transmembrane proteins
This gene encodes an EFNA class ephrin that binds to EPHA2, EPHA4, EPHA5, EPHA6, and EPHA7 receptors. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
