SNX2와 SNX4는 SNX1과 높은 아미노산 유사성을 가지며, 모두 특유의 phox homology (PX) 도메인을 포함합니다. 이들 단백질은 세포막과 부분적으로 결합하며 EGF, PDGF, 인슐린 수용체 티로신 키나아제와도 연관됩니다. Sorting nexin 단백질들은 다양한 조직에서 발현되며, 서로 및 다른 세포 단백질들과 상호작용하여 다중 서브유닛 복합체로 존재할 수 있습니다. 관련 단백질 SNX3는 PX 도메인 외부에서 낮은 서열 유사성을 가지며, 티로신 키나아제 수용체에 대한 결합 친화성이 크게 다릅니다.
