Target Information

CD30 (Ki-1, TNF Receptor Superfamily Member 8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the TNF receptor superfamily.
It was first identified as a cell surface antigen of Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells using monoclonal antibody Ki-1.
CD30 interacts with CD30L (CD153), mediating effects such as cell proliferation, activation, differentiation, and apoptosis.
It plays a key role in Hodgkin’s disease and other CD30⁺ lymphomas, and acts as a costimulatory molecule in thymic negative selection.
Expression is found in Hodgkin’s and Reed-Sternberg cells, some non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (including Burkitt’s), virus-infected T/B cells, and activated normal T/B cells.
CD30⁺ T cells produce Th2-type cytokines, and soluble CD30 (sCD30) serves as a marker for Th2 immune response.
TRAF2 and TRAF5 interact with CD30 to activate NF-κB signaling.
CD30 regulates apoptosis and limits autoreactive CD8 effector T cell proliferation, contributing to immune homeostasis.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
CD30 is expressed in Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Reed-Sternberg cells, and most Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphomas (ALCL), as well as embryonal carcinomas.
