Target Information

CLIP170 was initially identified as a novel intermediate filament-associated protein highly expressed in Reed-Sternberg cells, diagnostic for Hodgkin's disease. It localizes to microtubule plus ends and is required for endocytic vesicle binding. CLIP170 interacts with LIS1 to regulate dynein/dynactin binding to microtubules and may influence lamellipodia formation and cell invasion by modulating the release of kinesin and IQGAP1 from complexes involving CLIP170 and Rac1. At least two isoforms of CLIP170 are known.
